They consist of a gel-like or fluid material in a flexible sac, implanted behind or in place of a female breast in reconstructive or cosmetic surgery. The results of a successful surgery can last for about 10 years. Breast implants are generally applied for post–mastectomy breast reconstruction and for aesthetic breast augmentation.

Breast implants are considered to be of temporary nature as a surgery undergone at a young age, no matter how successful it is, cannot last for more than 40-50 years.  If a breast implant has to be removed before 10 years of implantation, then the surgery was not successfully done and the person who had undergone the surgery was just unlucky to get the complete benefits.

Interfering with breast implants with other cosmetic procedures is not a wise thing to do as this can create a lot of problems. Just because 10 years have lapsed after a breast implant procedure; considering another surgery is not advisable.

Thus, the lifespan of breast implants depends on the individual; in some cases they  need to be replaced within the first couple of years after surgery, while others can last as long as 25 years. In general, manufacturers of breast implants say the products should last about 10 years, on an average.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
