The video talks about the importance of flaxseed in preventing cancer. Taking 2 spoons of ground flaxseed each day is an effective preventive measure for cancer. This is because ground flaxseed has antiproliferative properties, which can slow down cell division rate especially prostate cells, breast cells, etc.
Flaxseed Prevents Cancer
Slowing down cell division can lower the scope of genetic mistakes, which can reduce the risk of cancer.
In many clinical trials, Falxseed is considered as an excellent supplement for preventing cancer. The following are the few benefits of flaxseed:
- Fibrocystic breast disease: 50 grams each day can reverse the condition
- Prostate cancer: reduces growth of tumor and even shrunk it in few cases
- Helps the body to secrete estrogen (2 OH estrone, less 16 OH estrone)
Other studies have showed that when we eat ground flaxseed, the constituents metabolize by the bacteria present in the large intestine and convert those materials into enterolactone and enterodiol. These will pass through the blood stream and get attached to the estrogen receptors present on the breast, prostate and uterus. This can slow down the cell division rate in prostate/uterus and breast.
The lignans present in flaxseed may prevent cancers that are sensitive to hormones. Lignans may fight against cancer by blocking enzymes that are involved in hormone metabolism and interfering with the growth and spread of tumor cells. Hence, it is recommended to have 2 tsp of ground flaxseed to prevent cancer.
