This is because ground flaxseed has antiproliferative properties, which can slow down cell division rate especially prostate cells, breast cells, etc.

Flaxseed Prevents Cancer

Slowing down cell division can lower the scope of genetic mistakes, which can reduce the risk of cancer.

The lignans present in flaxseed may prevent cancers that are sensitive to hormones.
