Is it Good to Walk Immediately after Eating Food?

A lot of us believe that walking after a meal helps to burn calories and in weight loss. While it is a good idea to walk after meals but you must know when exactly to do it. According to science, digestion requires a lot of blood circulation towards the digestive system and abdomen.

After dining or eating, it takes about 45 minutes for the entire blood circulation to be directed towards the digestive system. But if we walk immediately after walking then we may divert the blood circulation by about 30 to 40 percent. This can lead to acidity, fatigue or burning sensation in stomach.

It is a good idea to give a rest of about 30 minutes about lunch or dinner and then walking for about 15 to 20 minutes. This helps in sugar level regulation and insulin regulation. Also, a lot depends upon what you have eaten. If you have had a heavy meal, then walking immediately after that can lead to many digestive issues. Thus if you intend to walk after your meal, keep the diet light to avoid facing any such problems. Overall, it is advisable to wait for 45 minutes before you walk after eating lunch or dinner.
