This question plays on the minds of many in order to ensure that nothing that is harmful for the fetus is done. In the first 3 months, one must wait until the scan is done around the 6-7 weeks period in order to check whether the heartbeat has come into the uterus and it is a healthy pregnancy. If yes, then couple can have intercourse and this can continue till 34 weeks of pregnancy.

After that, the chances of going into labour may increase and hence doctors may ask you to abstain from it. Pregnancy is supposed to be as normal as possible and one can continue doing most normal activities.  Unless and until your doctor has said no due to certain medical issues, it is safe to engage in intercourse.

In some cases doctors may ask you to abstain if there is placenta praevai where the placenta is low and you can start bleeding by having sex. Another situation in which one may be asked to abstain from intercourse is when there is a risk of preterm labour where the cervix is going short.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
