If a woman doesn’t have periods for a 12 consecutive months between the age of 40 to 50, then it is said that women has entered menopause.

There are different stages like Peri-menopausal period, which is actually 3-4 years before the Menopause starts. From Peri-menopause stage the transition goes into menopause stage where periods get stopped completely. If a women reaches menopause stage very early before 35 years, then the condition is called pre-mature menopause.

Improper function of ovaries and certain cancer medications such as radiotherapy are the main causes of pre-mature menopause.

On the other hand, there is also a condition called surgical menopause where ovaries are removed at 40 or 45 years of age

What are the Symptoms?

  • Skin looses elasticity
  • Skin might become wrinkled
  • Vaginal dryness, irritation
  • Vulva itching
  • Urinary symptoms including urgency, increasing frequency, or continence
  • Depressed
  • Mood swings
  • Palpitation, anger and anxiety

If your symptoms are unbearable, then you need to consult your doctor. Changing your lifestyle and being active, eating less of salt foods, junk foods, quitting smoking are few habits that can help you. Eating foods rich in proteins, soya, and flax seeds can help you.

Women can undergo hormone replacement therapy and has to be under the supervision of the doctor. Vitamins and calcium should be taken on regular basis. Walking for 20 minutes every day is the best thing you can do.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
