Face wash as well as soaps are used in order to cleanse the face regularly. But dermatologists do not recommend the usage of soaps mainly because soaps are harsh and they strip off the skin from the essential moisture barrier which is formed in order to protect the skin. This moisture barrier is formed of natural lipids and fats in the skin and this is a protecting film which helps getting protection from harmful organisms and other elements. Below are the reasons why soap is not good for facial skin:
- Usage of soaps causes skin to get dry, resulting in patchy skin, making it look tired, dehydrated and older. It also makes the skin look lined and wrinkled.
- It is advised to use a gentle foaming cleanser or face wash which is free of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, as this affects the facial skin adversely.
- It is better to use a gentle cleanser than the one which creates a lot of foam.
- The cleaners which generate a lot of foam also strip the moisture layer off the skin and hence, it is advisable to use a mild face wash which does not create excess foam.
