Slipped disc is also called as herniated or prolapsed disc which occurs when the discs that sits between the bones of your spine is damaged and pressed on the nerves.  Lumbar disc prolapsed cause severe back pain and neck pain. The common symptoms associated with prolapsed disc are numbness and tingling sensation.

Spinal discs play a crucial role in your lower back region. It serves as shock absorbers between the vertebrae. When the disc herniates and leaks its inner material leads to severe back pain and discomfort.

To recover with slipped disc or herniated disc, yoga is generally preferred for quick relief from pain. Yoga postures usually help in providing relief and comfort from pain caused due to herniated discs. During yoga mostly people experience muscle cramps due to different postures. Frequent muscle cramps may be due to other diseased conditions and can lead to complications if left untreated.

Muscle cramps are nothing but sudden and involuntary contraction of one or more of your muscles. Long periods of physical activity or yoga may lead to muscle cramps and other major health diseases. You need to monitor whether you are having pain or cramps only during yoga or even while walking and standing. Experiencing pain or cramps only during yoga sessions may be due to the stretches done during the session.

When the pain persists even after yoga and becomes severe while walking and standing it may be due to prolapse disc. In such cases it is better to consult your doctor to ensure that the pain is not due to prolapsed disc. You can consult a spine specialist for prolapsed disc and pain associated with it.
